Name: Cyphaspis boninoi van Viersen & Holland, 2016
Stratigraphy: Hanonet Formation, upper Eifelian
Locality: Resteigne, Belgium
A fitting tribute to Enrico Bonino who found the holotype cephalon during a field excursion together, and who donated it for study. The paratype pygidium was kindly provided by Alfer van Rossum. Cyphaspis boninoi is a rare and small species, probably not attaining more than 10 mm total body length. The anteriorly ascending glabella, four tubercles anteriorly on glabella, and the steep librigenal and interocular fields have led to the assignment of this species to the Cyphaspis ceratophthalmus group of van Viersen & Holland (2016).
